Griffin’s Great Cloud Adventure

Griffin was snuggled tight in his warm bed. Mommy tucked the blanket right under his chin.

“Tell me a story, Mommy,” Griffin whispered, holding his favorite stuffed puppy.

Mommy smiled. “Once upon a time,” she began, “there was a brave little boy named Griffin. Tonight, Griffin wasn't just in his bed. He was the captain of a very special, soft, fluffy cloud!”

Griffin giggled. He looked at his ceiling, imagining it was the big blue sky.

“This cloud was a wonderful, bouncy adventure ship,” Mommy continued, stroking his hair. “It smelled like warm milk and soft pillows. Captain Griffin needed a co-pilot, of course, so Mommy hopped aboard!”

Mommy pretended to buckle her seatbelt next to him. “Ready, Captain?”

“Ready!” Griffin said, bouncing a little.

The cloud ship floated up, up, up! It drifted past the tall trees outside Griffin’s window. It waved hello to the sleepy moon, which looked like a big, friendly cookie.

“Where should we go first, Captain Griffin?” Mommy asked.

Griffin thought hard. “To the Land of Soft Things!”

“Excellent choice!” Mommy said. “Hold on tight!”

The cloud ship zoomed gently across the night sky. Below them, the houses looked like tiny toys. They passed shimmering stars that twinkled, blink, blink, blink.

Soon, they arrived at the Land of Soft Things. Everything here was squishy and gentle. The ground was made of big, fluffy cotton balls. The trees had leaves made of velvet.

“Look, Griffin!” Mommy pointed. “There’s a river of warm, bubbly bath water! And look at those little creatures!”

Tiny, happy sheep with woolly coats were hopping over marshmallow hills. They were making soft little baa-baa sounds. Griffin reached out his hand, pretending to pet one.

“We need to collect a treasure from the Land of Soft Things,” Mommy whispered. “A treasure to keep us cozy all night long.”

Griffin looked around. He found the perfect treasure: a tiny, soft, invisible blanket of sleepy warmth. He tucked it carefully under his pillow.

“Wonderful! Now, back to our cloud ship!” Mommy said.

They climbed back onto their bouncy cloud. The cloud ship was getting slower now, sailing gently through the quiet air. The stars seemed to be whispering, “Shhh… go to sleep.”

Mommy held Griffin close. “The cloud adventure is almost over, my brave Captain. We are sailing right back to your room, where your bed is the safest harbor.”

The cloud ship floated down, down, down. It landed with a soft poof right on top of Griffin’s mattress.

“Adventure complete,” Mommy murmured, giving him a kiss on his forehead. “You brought back the best treasure: a big blanket of sleepy warmth.”

Griffin yawned a wide, sleepy yawn. His eyes felt heavy. He was safe in his bed, the brave captain of the night sky.

“Goodnight, Mommy,” he mumbled, already drifting off.

“Goodnight, my sweet Griffin. Sleep tight and dream of soft clouds.”
