Liridoni loved to play in the big green garden. Today, he saw a bush full of yummy red berries. He loved berries so much!
His mommy had told him, "Liridoni, always ask before you pick anything from the garden." But Liridoni was very hungry for berries right now.
He looked around. Mommy wasn't there. "Just a few," he thought, and he picked a big handful of the reddest berries. He ate them all up quickly.
Later, Mommy came to the garden. "Oh dear!" she said. "Someone picked all the special berries I needed for our pie tonight!"
Liridoni felt a little tummy ache, not from the berries, but from a sad feeling inside. He knew he had taken them without asking.
Mommy looked at Liridoni. "Did you see who picked the berries, sweetie?" she asked softly. Liridoni looked down at his shoes.
"It was me, Mommy," he whispered. "I didn't ask." Mommy gave him a hug. "It's okay to make a mistake, but it's important to tell the truth."
Liridoni learned that day that taking things without asking is not a good choice, and telling the truth always makes things better.
